So here I am "mogging" from Andy's Jazz club, enjoying a rum and (diet) coke and reflecting on ILLA. Not only was the show--and the booth--crzy busy, but it was filled with librarians that really care about their patrons. I had a long conversation with one adult librian that explained to me why she doesn't buy graphic novels. Even though it was sad to hear that, she reasoned it very logically, and it all came down to how well she know her patrons, and knowing their patrons is what (in my opinion) really separates librians into their own vategory. Gotta love it!
While it is great to think about that kind of stuff, right now I'm really feeling these jazz rhthms, so I best be going

A Week Late Where does the time go? I arrived here in Germany last Wednesday (after leaving Tuesday), and set up began on Thursday. Now, on Monday, we're actually ahead of schedule, which is practically unheard of. In fact, much of the hall is raving about getting on a bit early with their finishing up. New Zealand, The UK, and loads of publishers are all ahead of schedule. While the fair doesn't start tomorrow, maybe it could... Not too much time has been spent outside the hall, but when there's time to spend, there's plenty to do--and eat! The food here is better than anywhere in the world, I'm nearly convinced. I'm glad I lost 20 pounds before I got here, though with all the pastries and pastas, its mostly returned. The world of publishers is begining to arrive today.
