Catching You Up

So here I am "mogging" from Andy's Jazz club, enjoying a rum and (diet) coke and reflecting on ILLA. Not only was the show--and the booth--crzy busy, but it was filled with librarians that really care about their patrons. I had a long conversation with one adult librian that explained to me why she doesn't buy graphic novels. Even though it was sad to hear that, she reasoned it very logically, and it all came down to how well she know her patrons, and knowing their patrons is what (in my opinion) really separates librians into their own vategory. Gotta love it!



While it is great to think about that kind of stuff, right now I'm really feeling these jazz rhthms, so I best be going

The first day of ILLA--the Illinois Library Association--ended today.  The ILLA librarians are great, very motivated to find new books, and very interested in a lot of titles.  I had a great conversation about YA literature with one librarian, and another about picture books with a second.  Everyone seems eager to find the best new book they can, which is awesome.  What's also awesome is that these ILLA librarians seem of a new age:  If there isn't one of the many long haired, chic-dressed male librarians walking by, there's undoubtedly a chic-dressed tattooed female librarian in eyesight.  These librarians make me feel so much less cool, which really would hurt the psyche of a middle-school-aged me, but for now, I just sort of love it.

Lance over at BEA calls blogging from his Blackberry "Mogging," which is presumably short for "mobile blogging," which is short for "mobile web logging." Mogging is much easier to say, and since this is my first ever mog-and likely not the last-i felt the need to explain that.



I'm currently at JFK waititng to board a plane to Chicago for Illinois Library. I'll keep you updated on any crazy exploits using this "mogging"
