Comic Con Week! And a Note for a FriendSo this Friday, the New York Comic Con’s fourth annual show will take place in New York (duh). The show has reportedly grown by leaps and bounds each year, so logic dictates that this year will be the biggest. Knowing the show management as I do, I expect nothing short of an amazing show. That, coupled with the panels, programming, exhibitors and everything else you can find out about at www.nycomiccon.com, I’d say we’re looking forward to a great weekend, no? I’m almost always “in the middle” of a book, and this weekend, in preparation for the ultimate geek-weekend, I dove into a few graphic novels that had been on my list for a while. It felt good to be back. I’ll be down at the show all weekend. If you see someone that looks suspiciously like that guy in that picture with Neil Gaiman, but with a beard and a badge that says “Seth Dellon,” it’s probably me. Say hi. As exciting as the upcoming week is, I do want to touch on a bit of bad news. I found out last week, and more officially via the latest issue of “Publishers Weekly,” that PW Editor-in-Chief Sarah Nelson was let go as part of a recession-inspired cutback of staff. Sarah’s columns were a bright spot for me each week, and often times I tried to model my commentary here on hers (I rarely—if ever—succeeded). I just want to wish Sarah all the best for whatever she’s planning next. I’m sure it will be a huge success, and I can’t wait to read what she’s thinking of the industry whenever she starts publishing it!
