We are always looking to expand to new venues where we can exhibit and market your materials to new customers, and expand your customer base and visibility in the publishing world. For 2008, we have identified four possible new shows to attend on your behalf. Please take a moment to look below and read about these new venues for your titles, and then email Seth at seth@combinedbook.com with your preference: The International Toy Fair Your input is important for us to decide which shows are best to attend. We thank you for taking the time to give us your insight and hope that by doing so, we will be able to enhance your visibility as publishers. International Toy Fair: The International Toy Fair is the largest show of its kind in the western hemisphere, with over 20,000 attendees in 2006. It’s the perfect opportunity to spread your customer base by exhibiting your books to buyers for everything from bookstores to museums to gift stores to wholesalers and much more. This show represents a completely new venue for Combined Book Exhibit. Publishers like Scholastic, Houghton Mifflin, HarperCollins, Harcourt and many others exhibit there year after year with multi-booth displays, proving that it is a good venue for books (read my experience at the 2007 Toy Fair here). The 2008 International Toy Fair will be held February 17-20 in New York City. To find more information, go to www.toyfairny.com.
California Reading Association: California Reading Association (CRA) "is a non-profit professional organization of educators who are actively involved in all aspects of reading and language arts education, from kindergarten through university levels." With a membership of over 12,000, CRA promises to be a successful show, similar to shows we currently attend such as New York State Reading Association or Michigan Reading Association. The 2008 CRA Conference will be held in Sacramento, California, October 16 – 18. More information can be found at www.californiareads.org.
National Education Association: The NEA is the largest national organization representing educators on all levels. Boasting 3.2 million members, the organization is at the forefront of educational problem solving and literary issues. As such, they hold an annual show, inviting exhibitors to display their educational material, which of course include books. Their website described the trade show as: “a multi-million dollar marketing opportunity for your company to showcase its products, services and educational programs to over 15,000 of our country's most influential educators. In order to reach the top decision-makers in education, this is the convention you need to attend.” The 2008 show will be held in Washington, D.C. Find more information on NEA at www.nea.org or more about the show itself at www.neaexpo.com.
National Association for the Education of Young Children: NAEYC was founded in 1926 and currently has over 100,000 members. They are all “dedicated to improving the well-being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8.” Their annual conference is considered “the largest early childhood education conference in the world, where tens of thousands of educators choose from hundreds of presentations and exhibits.” The 2008 conference will be held in New Orleans from June 8-11. You can find more information about NAEYC and their conference at www.naeyc.org. 04/05/2007 |
