Dear Publisher!
This one’s all about us (almost). Sometimes we have to be written narcissists and just write about ourselves. But I promise that everything you’ll find below is fantastic news (almost). For one, we announce our two new shows for 2008, which were decided upon from your votes. Second, we are happy to announce the first new venue for the New Title Showcase.
As always, books are constantly being added to cbedatabase.com, and new features keep popping up over at combinedbook.com. My blog, Comblogged Book Exhibit, is being updated more and more often now that I’m in the office, so keep your eyes there. Most importantly, we have created an archive to include all of the past issues of the Combined Book Exhibit e-newsletter, so you can catch up on anything you might have missed. Check that out here. Also, keep checking for the launch of NewTitleShowcase.com.
ALA Annual has come and gone (check in the show schedule below to read the new reports from ALA and BEA), and with it, the summer is in full swing. While we don’t have any shows during the months of July or August (at least not this year), we’re busy preparing for the great shows coming this fall, and hard at work getting ready for 2008. The summer’s been great so far, so I’m hoping to keep with the trend. Happy summer, and of course, happy reading!
Seth
P.S As we all know, there can't always be a constant influx of good news, but there are positive ways to look at things. Below, we remember the recently departed Jan Nathan.

New Shows for 2008 Decided: |
| |
Responding to readers and publishers from our large list meant a lot of record keeping, but your voices were heard, and with your help we’ve decided on our new shows for 2008. Originally, we wanted to schedule only one new show, but two shows in particular got overwhelming responses. Allow me to introduce to you your two new show option from Combined Book Exhibit:
American International Toy Fair, New York, NY, February 17-20, 2008:
Held every year at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, the American International Toy Fair is the largest fair of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. Open only to trade, and not to the public, your books will be seen only by the people that really count when it comes to selling to toy shops, specialty stores, bookstores, educational shops and more. Several publishers already attend Toy Fair and give it their seal of approval. Read what they had to say in the March issue of the CBE Newsletter, and read my diary from my day at Toy Fair at Comblogged Book Exhibit. Toy Fair's official website can be found here.
National Education Association, Washington, D.C., July 1-3, 2008:

Considered America’s biggest gathering of educational leaders, NEA consistently has over 15 thousand in attendance. The National Education Association has a membership of over 3.2 million worldwide, making it the largest association concerned with education. Being in Washington, D.C, near July 4th, and in an election year, NEA 2008 stands to be a show of high attendance in both quantity and quality, giving your books face-to-face meeting with all who arrive at the show. More information on the National Education Association can be found here, and more specific information on NEAExpo, the trade show portion of the annual show, can be found here.
We at Combined Book Exhibit would like to thank you for your input on this issue, and are happy to representing you where you want to be. |

Third New Title Showcase Announced: |
| |

June 2008 just got a bit more crowded. Junes past have always included two of the biggest shows in the world of publishing: Bookexpo America and American Library Association Annual. Throw on top of that National Education Association in 2008, which is right on the heals of ALA, and 2008 is going to be crowded. But it doesn’t stop there…
After incredible success for three year at Bookexpo America, and a great start at its debut at the London Book Fair, Reed Exhibitions and Combined Book Exhibit are happy to announce that they will be partnering again in 2008 to bring the New Title Showcase to yet another venue: Bookexpo Canada.
Held in Toronto on June 15 and 16, 2008, Bookexpo Canada, like its American counterpart, is the premier event for those in the Canadian publishing industry. The show brings together booksellers, librarians, publishers and media to one place to celebrate all things books.
More information on registering for the New Title Showcase at Bookexpo Canada, and information on the fair itself are still to come. Keep checking for the launch of NewTitleShowcase.com and check bookexpo.ca for more information on Bookexpo Canada. In the meantime, enjoy the sweet new logo. |

Jan Nathan Remembered: |
| |
As you probably know, Jan Nathan, founder and Executive Director of PMA passed away on June 17th, after a year's long battle with cancer. We at Combined Book Exhibit wish to extend our best wishes to those closest to Jan.
A pioneer for small presses, Jan Nathan helped to create an atmosphere in the literary world where small and independent publishers could exist in a world where it seems as though larger presses rule. She enabled small presses to band together, and helped every step of the way.
She will be remembered for her hard work as a small press advocate, and she leaves behind her mark on the world of publishing in the form of PMA.
